RapidScan App FAQsπŸ“±

Everything you need to know about downloading, setting up and using the RapidScan app at your event. 🎟️⚑

πŸ“² How Do I Get the RapidScan App?

For Apple devices, head to the App Store and search for RapidScan, or use the relevant download link on your mobile device.

For Android devices, head to the Google Play Store and search for RapidScan.

🌐 Do I Need an Internet Connection?

You need an internet connection to initially load your event onto the RapidScan app.

Once the event has loaded, you can continue scanning tickets without an internet connection. πŸ“ΆβŒ

However, if you're using multiple devices, we recommend keeping an internet connection available so that ticket redemptions can sync between devices.

🚫 What Happens If I Have No Internet?

If your device loses connection, RapidScan will display:

"No Internet, Syncing Suspended"

You can continue scanning tickets locally on the device. However, tickets scanned on one device may still be scanned on another device until the devices reconnect.

Once an internet connection is restored, you'll see a "Syncing" message and previously scanned tickets will be synced across your devices. πŸ”„πŸ“Ά

Your entry data will also be available in the Promotion Centre under Analytics > RapidScan Entry Stats.

πŸ” How Do I Sign In?

Use the email address and password you normally use to log in to the Promotion Centre.

πŸ‘₯ How Do I Add a Guest User?

If staff members are using their own devices, you can create guest users so you don't need to share your promoter account password. πŸ”’

Head to:

Settings > Manage RapidScan Devices

Under the main tabs, select My App Settings.

From here, you can create guest users and choose their permissions.

πŸ’‘ Top tip: If your scanning team changes between events, you can create multiple guest users so each member of staff has their own login.

Guest users only have access to the RapidScan app and cannot access your main Promotion Centre account.

🎟️ How Do I Find the Event I Need to Scan?

Make sure you have an internet connection before logging in. πŸ“Ά

Once you've entered your email address and password, you'll see a list of your upcoming events.

Select the event you need to scan tickets for.

πŸ“· How Do I Scan a Ticket?

Once your event has loaded:

  1. πŸ‘₯ You'll see your customer list.

  2. πŸ”΄ Press the red QR code button in the bottom-right corner.

  3. πŸ“± Your device's camera will open.

  4. πŸ“· Point the camera at the ticket barcode.

  5. βœ… A green screen and confirmation sound means the ticket has been successfully redeemed.

  6. ❌ A red screen and buzzing sound means the ticket is redeemed or invalid.

πŸ“Œ You'll need to give the app permission to access your camera the first time you scan a ticket.

πŸ”΄ What Do I Do If a Ticket Says "Redeemed"?

First, check that you haven't accidentally scanned the ticket twice.

RapidScan is very quick, so move the device away from the barcode after each scan to avoid accidentally scanning it again. πŸ“±βž‘οΈ

If you think the ticket has been double-scanned:

  • ⏰ Check the time of the scan on your device.

  • πŸ‘₯ Ask the customer how many tickets they have.

  • 🎟️ If it's a group booking, check the other tickets using the search function.

  • πŸ” This can help identify whether the customer has presented the wrong or duplicate ticket.

❌ What Do I Do If a Ticket Says "Invalid"?

An invalid ticket will produce a buzzing sound and the screen will turn red.

First, try scanning the ticket again. πŸ“·

If it still shows as invalid:

  1. πŸ” Check the ticket details.

  2. 🎟️ Make sure it's for the correct event.

  3. πŸ“± Check whether the customer has tickets for multiple events on their device.

🎫 What Types of Tickets Can Customers Bring?

Customers may arrive with one of three ticket types:

  • πŸ“± A mobile QR code through the Skiddle app.

  • πŸ–¨οΈ A Print at Home ticket, usually printed on A4.

  • 🎟️ A physical ticket printed by Skiddle.

πŸ”’ Which Barcode Should I Scan?

Tickets can contain two types of barcode:

  • πŸ”² QR code

  • β–₯ Standard barcode

You can scan either barcode. RapidScan may find QR codes slightly easier to scan, but both should have very similar scan times.

🟒 How Do I Know If a Ticket Has Been Redeemed?

When a ticket is successfully scanned:

  • 🟒 The screen will flash green.

  • πŸ”Š You'll hear the entry confirmation sound if your device volume is turned on.

  • 🎟️ The ticket has been successfully redeemed and the customer can enter.

πŸ“· How Do I Scan the Next Ticket?

You don't need to press any buttons after a successful scan.

Simply move the next ticket into the camera's viewfinder and RapidScan will automatically scan it. ⚑🎟️

This helps keep queues moving quickly. πŸšͺ➑️

πŸ”΄ How Do I Know If a Ticket Has Already Been Used?

If a ticket has already been scanned:

  • πŸ”Š You'll hear a buzzing sound.

  • πŸ”΄ The screen will turn red.

  • The app will indicate that the ticket has already been redeemed.

πŸ” How Do I Search for a Customer?

At the top of the customer list you'll find a Search box.

Start typing the customer's name and their order will appear.

You can then manually redeem their ticket from the search results.

⚠️ Always check ID against the customer's name before manually redeeming a ticket.

❓ I Can't Find the Customer's Name

If you can't find the customer in RapidScan, they may not have purchased their ticket directly through Skiddle.

In this situation, whether you allow them entry will depend on your event's door policies.

🎟️ My Customer's Ticket Says "Redeemed" But I Haven't Scanned It

There are several possible reasons:

  • πŸ‘₯ A friend may have given the customer the wrong ticket.

  • πŸ“· The ticket may have been accidentally scanned twice.

  • 🎫 The ticket may have been obtained from someone else.

Ask the customer to contact the person they received the ticket from. If they're the original booker, you can verify their ID and make a decision based on your event's door policy.

πŸ’‘ Top tip: Keep your device volume turned up and watch the screen when scanning. This makes it easier to hear and see when a ticket has been successfully redeemed and helps prevent double scans.

πŸšͺ Can I Redeem Different Ticket Types at Different Entrances?

Yes! 🎟️

You can filter which ticket types each RapidScan device is allowed to scan.

To do this:

  1. ☰ Click the menu icon in the top-left corner.

  2. 🎟️ Select the ticket type you want that device to scan.

  3. πŸšͺ Use the device at the relevant entrance.

For example, if you have a VIP entrance, you can configure a device to scan only VIP tickets. Other ticket types will show as Invalid.

πŸ“Ά Please note: An internet connection is required on each device when using ticket-type filtering.

πŸ”‹ How Long Will the Battery Last?

With a fully charged mobile device, you can expect approximately 8 hours of battery life when using RapidScan, provided no other apps are running.

πŸ“± The iPhone app has also received battery optimisations to improve battery life.

We also offer Honeywell devices, which can provide 14+ hours of continuous scanning.

πŸ’‘ Top tip: Always start your event with your devices fully charged. πŸ”‹

πŸŒ™ Will RapidScan Work in the Dark?

Yes! πŸŒ™πŸ“±

RapidScan has been tested in a variety of conditions, including low-light environments.

For the best scanning performance in dark areas, we recommend enabling your device's torch. πŸ”¦

Using the torch in this way should not significantly impact battery life.
