Learn how to set up a multi-day fairground using Skiddle Event Series

Running a fairground across multiple days? ๐ŸŽŸ๏ธ๐ŸŽก Using Event Series in the Skiddle Promotion Centre makes it easier to manage your dates and, most importantly, allows customers to choose the specific day they want to attend before purchasing their tickets.

๐Ÿ“… Why Use Event Series for Your Fairground?

Fairgrounds often run across multiple days, with customers purchasing tickets for a particular day of the event.

Using an Event Series allows you to group all of your fairground dates together under one listing. Customers can then view the available dates and select the specific day they want to attend from the calendar before choosing their tickets.

This creates a much clearer booking journey and helps prevent customers from accidentally purchasing tickets for the wrong day.

๐Ÿ’ก Important: If your fairground runs on multiple separate days, we recommend using an Event Series rather than creating completely separate event listings for each day.

๐ŸŽŸ๏ธ How Does It Work for Customers?

When your Event Series is grouped, customers will see your fairground as one event listing with a calendar showing the available dates.

They can:

  1. ๐Ÿ“… Select the day they want to attend.

  2. ๐ŸŽŸ๏ธ View the tickets available for that specific date.

  3. ๐Ÿ›’ Select their tickets and quantity.

  4. ๐Ÿ’ณ Complete their purchase.

This means customers are choosing their attendance date as part of the booking process, rather than having to search through multiple separate listings to find the correct day.

โš™๏ธ Setting Up Your Fairground Event Series

When creating your event in the Promotion Centre:

  1. ๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ Select Add New Event.

  2. ๐ŸŽก Enter your fairground's event details as normal.

  3. ๐Ÿ“… When asked "When does your event run?", select Event Series (Two or more Dates).

  4. โž• Add each date your fairground will be running.

  5. ๐Ÿ“ Complete the rest of your event information.

  6. ๐ŸŽŸ๏ธ Add your tickets and pricing.

  7. ๐Ÿ‘ฅ Choose whether you want your Event Series to be Grouped or Ungrouped.

With a Grouped Event Series, customers will see all of your dates together and can select their preferred date from the calendar.

๐ŸŽŸ๏ธ Set Up Your Tickets Correctly

When creating your tickets, think about how you want customers to purchase admission for each day.

For example:

  • ๐ŸŽก Adult Ticket

  • ๐Ÿ‘ง Child Ticket

  • ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘งโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ Family Ticket

  • โญ VIP Ticket

The ticket details, pricing and allocations you create for an Event Series can be applied across the dates in your series, helping to save time when setting up your fairground.

Make sure your ticket descriptions clearly explain what the ticket includes and, where relevant, that it is valid for the selected date only.

๐Ÿšจ Why Is Using Event Series Important?

Creating separate listings for every fairground day can make the customer journey more complicated. Customers may have to search through multiple listings to find the date they want.

With Event Series, your dates are grouped together, making it much easier for customers to find and book the correct day.

It can also help drive additional sales. If one date sells out, customers can see other dates in the series that still have tickets available and choose an alternative day.

โœ… The benefits for your fairground

  • ๐Ÿ“… One listing for multiple dates

  • ๐ŸŽŸ๏ธ Customers choose their preferred day

  • ๐Ÿ”Ž Easier for customers to find the correct date

  • ๐Ÿ›’ Simpler booking journey

  • โฑ๏ธ Less time spent creating duplicate listings

  • ๐Ÿ“ˆ Greater opportunity to sell alternative dates

  • ๐Ÿ“Š Easier management of your event dates and sales

๐Ÿ’ก What If Your Fairground Has Different Entry Times?

If your fairground also needs customers to select a specific arrival or entry time, you can combine Event Series with Session Based Ticketing.

This allows you to create multiple dates, with different timed sessions available on each date. Customers can then select their date and entry time as part of the booking process.

For example:

Saturday 5 September

  • ๐Ÿ• 12:00pm

  • ๐Ÿ•‘ 1:00pm

  • ๐Ÿ•’ 2:00pm

  • ๐Ÿ•“ 3:00pm

Sunday 6 September

  • ๐Ÿ• 12:00pm

  • ๐Ÿ•‘ 1:00pm

  • ๐Ÿ•’ 2:00pm

  • ๐Ÿ•“ 3:00pm

This can be particularly useful for larger fairgrounds where you need to manage capacity and control the flow of customers throughout the day.

๐ŸŽก Give Customers a Simpler Way to Book

For fairgrounds running across multiple days, Event Series provides a much cleaner way to organise your listings and sell tickets.

By grouping your dates together, customers can easily find your fairground, select the day they want to attend and purchase the correct tickets, while you can manage multiple dates from one setup.

๐ŸŽŸ๏ธ Our recommendation: If your fairground operates across multiple separate dates, use a Grouped Event Series so customers can choose their preferred day directly from your event listing.
