When selling tickets through Skiddle, we act as an agent on your behalf.

This means the ticket sale itself is treated as a direct sale between yourself and the customer (with Skiddle assisting), whilst the booking service is provided by Skiddle.

The face value of your tickets should be accounted for by yourself, including declaring and paying any relevant VAT that may be due if you are VAT registered.

Do I need to be VAT registered to sell tickets?

No, anyone can sell tickets through Skiddle, despite whether you are VAT registered or not.

Should I be VAT registered?

You will need to check this yourself with HMRC or your accountant. General advice is that if your eligible turnover is more than the VAT threshold (£85,000 in 2019) in any 12 month period, you will need to register.

Do I need to tell Skiddle my VAT registration status?

Yes, we require you to keep these details up-to-date on Skiddle. This includes your company name, VAT registration status and VAT number if you have one. Failure to update Skiddle could lead to paperwork being incorrectly issues which may lead to penalties with HMRC. Skiddle reserve the right to suspend your account and withhold payments if we have reason to believe you have entered incorrect information.
